What is EthicHub?
EthicHub is a transnational peer-to-peer crowdlending platform. Thanks to Blockchain technology we globally connect investors (lenders) with small unbanked producers (borrowers). The Advantage of EthicHub EthicHub offers an opportunity to invest in profitable agricultural projects selected in person by a Local Node, and that isn’t accessible via the traditional banking and investment markets. Investors: have the freedom of choice between highly profitable projects in developing countries. The platform provides access to better reward-vs-risk investment opportunities, which are usually found in those countries. Small and unbanked producers: can benefit from lower interest rates, due to greater financing supply and take advantage of a stored credit history on the Blockchain. More liquidity allows them to improve productivity, a higher profit from labor and as a result a better quality of life.
THE PROBLEM Small farmers do not have access to banking and due to lack of available private capital in their geographical area, they must bid to get it, because the lender has limited capital. This means they offer to pay interests even higher than 120% per year in order to obtain the required financing because their crops generate enough benefits to cover it, even if their own profit gets reduced. On the other hand, socially responsible investors can’t directly invest in positive impact projects, with high profitability, and with affordable risk.
THE SOLUTION The solution consists on connecting groups of small farmers from developing countries who currently offer to pay high interest for cash loans without leaving record of such payment history, with investors in markets with excess liquidity, allowing investors to obtain high returns for their money and at the same time, provide better interest rates for farmers. This is possible due to the difference in the cost of money in their respective economic zones.
Ethic Hub capitalizes trust they recognize the synergy of the community and the value of the multiple bonds between its members. Human-Based Economics: an economic credibility based on human relationships and the relational asset of the community: closeness, communication, support, reference, and commitment. For this reason, unlike other platforms, project’s risk evaluation is done through people in direct contact with borrowers. The correct project selection is key point for the platform’s success so Ethic Hub is developed on this basis: Local Nodes are Ethic Hub main filter; they locate loan seeking borrowers and help them to register; they personally know the community asking for a collective loan and are able to identify participants and their land; they know if the expected harvest will be a good enough guarantee regarding the requested loan amount; and they keep track of the operation.
