DENT: Decentralized Marketplace for Mobile Data
Mobile Data is one of the most important digital commodity today and can arguably become the most important in the future. Because of the benefits of connecting to the inter-web at any given point and time as long as your mobile device have data to consume. But with the infinite number of mobile data users, a significant amount of unconsumed data are also wasted. Because of the lack of data plans that a user can choose from or not being able to determine which is the appropriate plan to choose, a user will have to pay for all his monthly data allocations and his unconsumed data allocation or pay for additional data at a more expensive price. This is one of the primary issues regarding Mobile Data. Unlike other commodities like electricity, water and fuel which requires payment after consumption, telecommunication companies provide their services by asking for full payment before/after allocation.
Dent Wireless has a very interesting approach in solving aforementioned problem and that is by creating a digital marketplace for mobile users to be able buy, sell or donate mobile data. The interesting part of this is that it uses blockchain technology which will ensure the safety and security of its users and the market as a whole. Dent tokens, a decentralized cryptocurrency which uses the Ethereum blockchain, will serve as the official currency to be used for the mobile data exchanges within the market’s ecosystem. To accomplish this, Dent will have to establish a community of telco customers then have a partnership with the telcos. As long as a few million is a member of the community, negotiations with telcos will not be a hard task. If all are said and done, Dent Token will also be the world’s official currency for mobile data.
Dent Wireless also tries to solve other issues regarding Mobile Data like the very expensive Data Roaming. Data Roaming is an expensive way to connect to internet for those who goes to other countries. If both your original telco and the telco in that country are Dent partners, you can just buy local data from the Dent MarketPlace and then connect to the internet without having to worry about Data Roaming expenses.
A Grand total of 100 Billion tokens will be created:
Seventy percent of which will be sold during the Token Sale which will officially start on July 12,2017 (GMT+1)
(1 Eth = 400,000 Dent).
29% plus unsold tokens will used by the company, Dent Wireless, for telco acquisition and market seeding, user incentives, salaries and bonuses.
1% will be pledged to the UN SDG program to help developing countries and also to donate mobile data to those countries.
