SpringRole ICO Review - Can they replace LinkedIn
The Problem With Professional Profiles
What is the biggest issue for companies in relation to talent acquisition? To find the ideal candidate with the right skillset.
But the issue is not that many candidates fail to present themselves well on paper and via professional social media platforms, but validating the information presented by the candidate is currently impossible. How do we check that candidates are not overselling themselves? How can we determine whether endorsements are meaningful? How can we ensure that nothing is falsified?
SpringRole’s vision?
The digitisation of information makes this information has subtly made this information more and more accessible. This has allowed SpringRole to utilise blockchain technology to produce a decentralised professional network. The platform’s USP will reside in the trustworthiness of the platform.
They seek to create an environment where the information read is trustable even though it is not personally verifiable. To achieve this, SpringRole’s focuses on having verified professional profiles. Collating authentic and genuine users’ professional profiles worldwide, SpringRole’s vision is to “put data control back in the hands of users”.
But that’s not all! This platform will facilitate an environment whereby effective employer-jobseeker relationships can be built and sustained. They also aim to build a skills database – this will help companies map various skillsets to corresponding job requirements.
The Platform
As with every ICO, a key aspect when evaluating their potential is by questioning their ability to deliver. SpringRole’s Protocol is particularly wonderful because of how much progress they’ve made with their platform. They already have a Beta version available for public usage.
This instils a reasonable level of confidence in the company. The platform is noticeably stable and well designed.
Roadmap
As seen above, this is the roadmap SpringRole roadmap. They have currently built facilitated the ability for a professional profile to be made, but the next big milestone on the roadmap is for the attestation framework to be implemented in August. This will be key month, in bringing the SpringRole vision into fruition.
The attestation framework will essentially allow users to populate their personal profiles with their details (e.g. work experience, education and skills). These details will then be recorded in the SpringRole profile using blockchain technology. The information will then be validated by universities, employers, colleagues and bosses. This is the most pivotal step in all of their project and is therefore something to pay attention to.
The final quarter of this year is expected to be busy, but if they can complete everything, this will be a very progressive period for SpringRole.
Token Economics
The above picture is from the SpringRole whitepaper and it seeks to capture the Spring Token Economics.
Having appreciated the pivotal nature of the attestation process, it is useful to consider the token economics. This is essentially, a consideration around how money enters, moves around and exits the platform in order to assess its anticipated utility.
Judging from the above and the token metrics, it seems like the following holds true:
• The initial source of finance underlying the Spring Tokens comes from the initial distribution;
• The continued financing of tokens thereafter comes from the companies that seek to use the platforms;
• The user then receives the bulk of the tokens directly from SpringRole for general engagement on the platform; and
• The various people who endorse / validate the user’s skills and experience receive tokens from the user.
Team
The picture above is of the SpringRole founder and has been taken from their more extensive whitepaper.
Kartik Mandaville has a very exceptional resume for a founder. He has had an exceptional amount of experience, even within the blockchain industry having built a BTC:USD exchange several years ago. He has also won multiple hackathons which suggest he is an exceptional developer.
In addition to Mandaville, the rest of his team is relatively moderate in size, but has a plethora of experience having worked for a range of companies.
Expert Ratings
As always, it is useful to cross-reference any project against some expert opinions (i.e. influencers and websites) because it’s informative and quick to do. That said, here are some of the results:
Zaz – 91.93%
Diddy – 85%
Matty – 79%
TrackICO – 4.3 / 5
Against various standards, by a range of influencers who focus on different metrics, this ICO constantly scores highly. This makes me more confident in the ICO’s product seeing as many others influential voices also rated this highly.
Conclusion
As per usual, this is not financial advice, and you should consult a financial advisor before investing. Yet, my personal opinion the concept is unique in nature and a wonderful use of blockchain technology. If successful, they could easily create a paradigm that could replace / be used by a range of staple platforms already out there. Thanks for reading!
