Question of the Day: Am I Too Old For Infinite Banking/Bank On Yourself?
Am I Too Old For Infinite Banking/Bank On Yourself?
This is a common question and concern for many who have just learned about Infinite Banking/Bank On Yourself (IBC/BOY) and feel they may be too old to get started.
Fortunately, there are two options for implementing Infinite Banking including one strategy in particular that is specifically geared towards people ages 60 to 85. We call this alternative option "Bank On Yourself for Seniors" because it is very similar to a CD (certificate of deposit) at a bank in that this alternative IBC option is funded with a one-time lump sum contribution.
This IBC/Bank On Yourself for Seniors strategy is in contrast to the more common Infinite Banking plan which is typically funded over 5 or more years. It is ideal for seniors because they are already retired or perhaps within 5 years of retirement. They are also most likely to have taxable money sitting idle in bank accounts earning little interest because their primary concern is safety of principal. Some additional benefits include:
- Death Benefit bypasses probate
- Eliminates taxes on idle money
- Better growth than bank money
- No surrender penalties
- Access to cash values at anytime
- Leverage opportunities to take loans using cash values as collateral
- Some states offer additional Long Term-Care benefits
See the example below of a 61 year old male who funds $100,000 into a Bank On Yourself for Seniors plan. Notice that the policy breaks even by the 2nd year and each year both the cash values and death benefit continue grow in value.
This is accomplished without any luck, skill, or guesswork because the cash values are contractually guaranteed by the insurance company to increase in value no matter what happens in the economy. Dividends can also be declared boosting the return on the policies though are not guaranteed. That said, the life insurance companies used for Infinite Banking all have been in business for over 100+ years without ever missing a dividend.
