Story Behind a Hit Song

Randy Bachman recorded a different version of the band's song as a joke to his Brother Gary, who was a stutterer. Only Gary was supposed to hear it. However, their new album needed that hit song.Charlie Fach from Mercury studios talked to Randy about coming up with such a song for the album. Randy told Charlie that he had something and played him the song he recorded for his brother.

Charlie Fach knew this would be their hit song. Randy tried to record it without the stutter but it didn't sound as good. So, the stutter was kept in.
