Thinking About the Hole in the Bagel

in #humor8 years ago

If you think about it, the hole in the bagel, was there even before the bagel was formed, we are a lot like that too, if you think about it. My great, great uncle known as Bagelhole 1, used to go around cafes collecting bagel holes that people inevitably left behind and stuffed them in a large sack that always looked empty, which he carried on his shoulders, all stooped over, like it was really heavy. He was far ahead of his time as he believed that it was the hole in the bagel that was important, moreso than the "meat" of the bagel that everyone else cherished so much and loved to eat. He was an anti materialist. He believed that if you put your finger through the hole in the bagel, you could feel the throb of the universe if you were sensitive enough, and if you looked through the hole, you could see infinity, and if you stacked all the bagels ever made on top of one another, you could climb to the moon. His spirituality was eccentric to say the least.

In some ways I am similar in that my spiritual path is also somewhat eccentric. My path is to appreciate those moments when you don't hear any dogs barking, to feel eternally grateful in those moments and also for not having had stepped in any dog shit too. I believe that the world has gone to the dogs and that it is almost impossible to escape their incessant barking. You might think that the arctic and antarctic are the only places left on the planet where you might be able to experience a dog barking freeze zone, but then again, there, you would have to endure the barking of seals.

I have tried to transcend the noise, like the ecuadorians seem so good at, but I have not really succeeded, possibly due to the likely veracity of a theory that I have, which is, that I may have been eaten alive by a snarling, barking pack of dogs in a former life.

The Creator, if there is one, created sounds that are lovely, i.e. birdsounds and for contrast ugly sounds like dogbark and car alarms. Also, He/She/It created creatures that are cuddly and cute, like babies, kittens, rabbits, ok, puppies, and for contrast creatures that are repugnant, like rats and cockroaches, though rats make great pets, and maybe cockroaches do too. An enlightened stance would be to embrace it all, the good, bad, and ugly. One must "accept" everything. But that doesn't necessarily mean we have to "tolerate" everything, like cruelty, injustice, and barking dogs, does it?
