I tried to stop. I told myself that I could quit if I had to. I tried rationing my upvote. But it just got out of control, like that proverbial crazy bicyclist:

But I couldn't. I was too embarrassed to ask for counseling or to say that I could no longer upvote. It just got out of hand. Like the proverbial old woman, I had bought a bigger dog than I could tell to go fetch:
