Woody Woodpecker Against Man: The Struggle is Real
While my husband, @jbreheny and I have been traveling across the country, little did I know my brother was having the fight of his life. I received this email from my brother, who resides in Florida where the woodpeckers are abundant. It was not quite funny at the time to him, but his email left me laughing out loud. I asked his permission to post his story on Steemit.
So here we go!
While you all were off gallivanting across the country - hiking through The Badlands in flip-flops and standing on the edge of magnificently terrifying canyons, I have been in the fight of my life against the son of Woody.
As witnessed in the below image, the son of Woody doesn't give two shits about this house.
After patching hole 1 and putting up some "reflective scare tape" that's supposed to avert these pecking punks
And that was just one side. On the other side of the house was another hole. I patched that as well.
He laughed at me (literally as seen below) while watching me patch his achievements. And one time, after cutting the wood for the patch and walking around the corner to get the nails out of the back of the car, I came back around, and he was sitting up there pecking at the hole on the left with no abandon.
Laugh it up jackass!
This called for military tactics and SHOCK AND AWE.
And thus, my counter move.
Come get some you dirty bastard!
Inspecting on Day 3 shows no new holes, just 2 pieces of ugly tape hanging from the side of the house.
It seems the middle piece of tape "mysteriously disappeared". Now some would chalk that down to the subtropical storm Alberto that was gusting wind and rain at high speeds for the past day or two and pulled it off, I know the truth!
Somewhere there is a woodpecker with a disco ball in his hole.
Now I know why they made an entire cartoon of man vs woodpecker... it is a non-stop battle that includes repetitive hilarity and anger on a massive scale.
hahaha this is hilarious :) You know in the end, the woodpecker always wins :)

It was a funny story I definitely wanted to share. I did know I was featured and really appreciate it. Yes, I will be joining. We are working on some connectivity issues here in Yellowstone and has been quite the challenge. Getting our Weboost installed to see if that will help as I am having Steemit withdrawal.

All crappy situations have some humor hidden in there somewhere, if we can only find it life is instantly more fun!
For the benefit of the other travelling Breheny and I don't mean Nick I have omitted the second letter 'U' from the word humour (I couldn't offend the Queens proper English a second time) as he recently did me the service of including it as a nod to the British colonial evil overlords!
I sincerely hope that your trip is everything you had hoped for, the scenery and epic locations you guys are getting to behold is stunning on the most epic scale imaginable!
I both envy you and feel joy for you I hope Yellowstone is as magnificent as I have always imagined!
It is super magnificent and will be better when we can get back online with some regularity.

On the other hand if that bird is pooping disco balls he is making some crazy windshield splatters.
Not missing the house maintenance at all. However, RV and internet maintenance is a new ball game for us. Definitely some posts coming up about those issues.
Good maybe I will learn some tips. If I were to hit the road I would miss my internet addiction very much.
That is hilarious. I am in Florida also, but I have not done battle with a woodpecker. However, the carpenter bees can't be stopped. God willing, they won't show up at your brother's after the woodpecker.
I love the woodpeckers, but thankfully did not have them pecking holes in the wood in the side of our house. It is one of those things that is funny, but not.
I have one of these jackass birds pecking at my house this year. He put multiple wholes in the neighbors house the last couple years and now he moved over to my windows. My plan is a little more harsh...I will shoot the thing if given the chance.

Yes it is, but now you know about the “tape”. The last update is the tape seems to have worked and the woodpecker has moved on. So for now, the battle has been won!
