God's bad joke #3 - Butthole of the Earth

Some people believe that the world was created by an inteligent being and some people think there is no divine plan. I don't know who is right. I simply point out that if there is a god, he/she must have a strange sense of humor or be completely insane.

1. The Abbys

You are looking at the sinkhole in the South China Sea. It's the deepest sinkhole that humans have ever found, 300 meters (987 feet) deep. Chinese people call it the "Dragon Hole". Why? Because Satan lives there!

No, I'm just kidding. He has better things to do than sitting in some waterhole.
Probably giving AIDS to puppies.

2. Fun fact.

How many hamsters can we fit into that hole? Well... I did the math, so...

I'm not drawing that many hamsters, but you can have this picture of a one big hamster inside a sinkhole.

3. Formation

Sinkholes are an efect of erosion, mostly because of water, but can also be caused by nearby construction.
When there is a ground above a limestone, a rainwater or an underground river can dissolve limestone creating an empty space.
When the cave grows to much, then the weight of the ground can't be supported and the whole thing collapses.
They look awesome, but they're dangerous. Not many people died because of the sinkholes, but they can do massive damage to property.
