Do we really need too invest so much for a robot similar to the humans?

Browsing on Youtube last days I see a lot of videos for a robot called Sophia that is too similar to the humans.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think this is the biggest stupid think I have seen and heard for this year. I didn't understand the idea to make a robot that is similar to humans. You spent a lot of time, efforts and money for what ........for nothing. It is useless!
Just do a robot that you use a robot that is programmed to do something that can help the humans to do their jobs, not a robot to substitute the humans.
Maybe I wrong but telling the truth for me is bullshit!
