A Dose Of Positivity - How I Helped My Sick Neighbor & A Sad Cat Whose Owner Is In The Hospital

To not sacrifice the promotion of recycling and environmental awareness, I'm posting this on both Steem and Hive. With unique followers on both platforms, I want to reach and motivate as many people as possible. My view is that we all share one planet, regardless of what platforms we use. Plain and simple.
A lot of good can come from even the smallest form of recycling, especially toys.
The Opportunity:
My elderly neighbor's cat has been stranded by itself since he's been at the hospital for a few weeks with the virus. She's pretty depressed.
My other neighbor, who got sick trying to tend to him prior, has been taking care of the cat, named Allie. Unfortunately, she's been in bed most of the time trying to get better.
She told me that she feels bad that Allie is super lonely and cries after she visits to feed her. I can imagine that she's confused by the change of routine, and depressed that her owner has seemingly disappeared. Sad.
My neighbor also is obsessed with Batman...
Help Was Needed:
So I did what anyone would do...
I put a transforming remote control Batman Battle Tank I had outside her door with instructions to drive it around for the cat to play with. Surprise!
Given her fondness of Batman, this would probably make her smile. It did. When you're stuck in quarantine, little acts of kindness and a change of pace mean more than usual.
Naturally, I salvaged it from my curb-side recycling. It'll eventually be sold to a parent to give to their kid, but in the interim, it helped bring some joy.
Here are some pics of Allie in the elderly man's apartment which looks like it's straight of out the 1950's. That's because he's actually lived in the same apartment since the 1950's and it's virtually a time capsule. He doesn't even have a shower.
Look how relaxed she is enjoying her new friend in the video. Her eyes and tail say it all:
My neighbor said that remote was her favorite part. I knew it'd be. Home run.
But why stop there?
I sold a bunch of salvaged Legos to @carlgnash and had some leftovers I thought I'd use to make a mouse toy for her. My neighbor was the only one who can watch the cat, and she loved the tank, so it was time to raise the bar for both.
So, again, I did what anyone would do...
I took a Lego car motor with a remote I found last week, and made a MOUSE!!
Here was the initial design that I left outside my neighbor's door as another surprise. The eyes and whiskers didn't last long.
Note, if you look closely, a Batman minifigure is at the helm of the car. It made her smile when she finally noticed it.

A cat was happy for a little bit and my neighbor had fun both days. Both items salvaged to reduce waste. Win-win-win.
