The Paradox of Social Media and Steemit

in #humanity7 years ago

This is my very first post on steemit and I'm very excited about it. Sorry if there are any errors of any kind. I promise I'll get better as time goes by.

What is the most famous Social Media platform that we use today? Facebook? Instagram? Apps similar to those? Long gone are the days when popularity was measured by how good you are in sports or how well behaved you are infront of others. Maybe this too is dated now but popularity is measured by the number of likes and followers you have on your social profile.

Everyday we go through countless posts of friends, aquaintances or maybe people we barely know. Yet, we still double tap or hit that like button just to let the person know that we saw it.

Things don't really go the same way on steemit. Here, people don't want to upvote another person's post simply because they know that all it does is makes money for the person posting it.

We've had the opportunity to be a part of a platform like this. Why don't we use it to help the world? Over here one like really does mean saving someone's life as it helps raise the funds for people who need it the most. Let's all come together and make a pledge to give away a part of the earnings we get from posts to people who are not so well off. One upvote really is equal to possibly one life saved. I promise to give 100% of whatever I earn from this post to someone who has really lost everything. Whatever helps to get his/her life back on track.
