New Home Issues - Builder's Negligence

I would like to start a post on issues I have noticesd in the new home builts by various builders that can cause home owners to spend tonnes and tonnes of money as well as time and effort and worriness.

These are ally observationd and data collrction through talks with friends, family and college or even neighbors..

I think there should be some regulations to monitor home builders and to make them responsible for who they choose as contractors. I know there is a 1 yr home builder warranty and 5 to 10 years home warranty but I think the builder warranty should be longer than 1 yr. It usually takes at least one yr for the house to settle...for the house to go through winter season to see "FLAWS" in the house..I propose at least a 2 yr home builder warranty. Going through home warranty is not a fast process...you will need to call in and schedule an appointment, you will need to pay foe the home inspection, and of not structural, they will not even look at it. This is not fair to home owners who spentd $350 and more of their savings on the house and then need to put up with all the major issues afterwards.

I think builders should be more responsible.. do their due diligence if they want the money, they need to earn it...so 2 yrs builder warranty should be a minimal.

Opinions?

Some major issues I noticed with talking to friends, family, neighbors and colleges are

1. Roof issue...leaking water from roof or vents or potlights.
2. Moisute issues on the windows.
3. Foundatiom cracks and driveway pad sinking withim 2 yrs.
   4.calcium salt built up in basement.
4. Exterior outlets not working in cold condition (-18 degrees or colder)
5. Doors not closing properly because of settle of house (normal as builder says is)
6. Falling shingles.

All the above issues I have mentioned are frok jomes built im 2010 to current....and the issues apparently start appesring after the 1 yr mark but before the 2 yr mark...is this just coincidence??
