The Top 3 Horror Movies of 2017
For the fans of horror. If you haven’t seen these movies, you are missing out! One for every type of fan. A psychological thriller, a laugh and cheer horror movie, and a monster movie (if you consider clown-monsters to be a thing). Here are my recommendation and reasons why. Here are my TOP 3 for 2018 NO SPOILERS
- IT
An excellent rendition of the original “It” movie that gave fans a lot of what they wanted: an R rated version of the original. It speaks truer to the book and the original vision of Stephen King, in my opinion. Even the namesake monster was even creepier than I expected. But on top of this, Pennywise the Clown was extremely silly/goofy at times as well. Definitely uncomfortably so. The score and the cinematography were outstanding as well, in my opinion.
- Get Out
Get Out teases at a familiar experience: meeting a significant other’s family for the first time. A generally uncomfortable experience takes a quick turn into something frightening as time goes on. The racial undertones of the movie force us to think about things from the main character’s perspective while inciting us to cheer on the main character to success. And the main character’s best friend, Rod, is funny enough to elicit at least a few chuckles (if not bursts of laughter) throughout the movie. This movie has twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very in and deserves the 2nd best spot!
- It Comes at Night
A horror movie true to its core. A “cabin in the woods” film. In my opinion, It Comes at Night is the BEST (albeit one of the least well-known) horror film of 2017. It is a dark, slow burning film that builds and builds until the very end. It forces you to think and rethink everything that you see. This is a movie that you’ll want to watch over and over to reaffirm your thoughts and assumptions. The cinematography and score immerse you into the story—into the house where everything takes place.
