Horror story
Whilst investigating the death of a local mechanic, an intuitive homemaker called Flora Meadows uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, stripy hat circulating throughout Canada. As soon as anyone uses the hat, he or she has exactly 24 days left to live.
The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look skeletal. A marked person feels like an ample fox to touch.
Flora gets hold of the hat, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into her mind: a picturesque flamingo balancing on a cold mechanic, an old newspaper headline about a boating accident, a hooded koala ranting about elbows and a drinking well located in a magical place.
When Flora notices her legs have fox-like properties, she realises that the curse of the stripy hat is true and calls in her granddaughter, a hairdresser called Laura Jolie, to help.
Laura examines the hat and willingly submits herself to the curse. She finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. She finds the picturesque flamingo balancing on a cold mechanic particularly chilling. She joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Flora and Laura pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded koala. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
