How Bored Apes Is Addressing The Problems With NFT Creator Royalties
Bored Apes founders propose new model for NFT creator royalties, The Bored Ape is a new fintech company founded by two former financial executives that seeks to disrupt the $200 billion game industry. The firm has been described as the first serious competitor to Fortnite creator Epic Games.
In a Medium post published yesterday, Bored Ape founders Stephen Pomerantz and Matt Smith laid out their vision for how NFT creators can be paid for their work. The duo proposed a new model in which creators would receive royalties based on how many times their content was played.
The NFT market has been slow to develop because of its one-sided nature, said Pomerantz. The only way for creators to make any money is if someone else pays you.
The authors contended that this problem could be addressed by introducing a simple revenue sharing model where creators could earn revenue from each time their work is played. This could be achieved through a system where users pay money into an account with which they can then buy virtual goods or services from other users' accounts.
