The BRICS Group is a loose economic and political alliance of emerging nations including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group was established in 2011 at the 5th BRICS Summit in Fortaleza, Brazil. With a combined population of about 2 billion, the BRICS countries are the world's largest producers of gold and other precious metals.

There are also large reserves of oil and natural gas. Not only is it the largest producer of these raw materials, it is also one of the fastest growing economies on earth. BRICS countries are considered more attractive options for investors than Western countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan and Europe due to lower trade barriers and fewer regulatory requirements for companies operating within their borders.

Saudi Arabia is listed as a member of BRICS, a group that includes China and Russia Saudi Arabia was listed as one of seven countries along with China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Russia and South Africa.

Saudi Arabia's accession means it is now a full member of the BRICS, along with China (which was not previously a full member).
