Photography Hotspots in Hong Kong

in #hongkongtravel7 years ago (edited)

Brought a Singaporean exchange buddy to Kowloon side of Hong Kong on 11 May! To be honest, this is also my first time to visit these hidden photography spots in Hong Kong for 22 years. Let me share with you how easily accessible and where these spots are! ❤

We first went to Choi Hung Estate at around 3pm. If you are taking MTR, get off at Choi Hung station and find Exit C4. The exit is a small slope. Turn left and you will see Choi Hung Estate Catholic Secondary School on your right. Turn left again then you find the car park. Walk upstairs cos the place to shoot is located at the top floor which is a basketball court (which no loner serves its purpose haha :p). In case you are interested: Choi Hung Estate is one of the oldest public housing estates in all Hong Kong.

彩虹站地鐵C4出口:出口是個小斜坡,走出去後就準備左轉,左轉後看到右邊有天主教英文中學,緊接著再左轉,就會看到立體停車場,拍攝位置就在停車場頂樓的籃球場。

The second place we had gone was Ping Shek Estate. If you were going from Choi Hung Estate, you can walk on streets or find Choi Hung MTR station Exit A2. Actually, these two are residential places which are highly-populated (government housing). Therefore, be careful not to disturb other residents' living at your best possible! An interesting experience: we asked how to get to that spot and the security guard replied 'don't go there. There are a lot of crazy people throwing stuff downstairs. Worse still, there are people jumping off (suicide).' I was a bit scared off while I realized not many were walking at the centre of the square. They chose to walk at the sides instead. Not sure he doesn't want us to get into residential places or seriously these cases are not uncommon. But at that time we saw some cleaners who dressed like construction works on covers/ scaffolding to collect the rubbish (perhaps many residents throw rubbish). The atmosphere is quite dark and personally, I am not a fan of it :b Nevertheless, the food there is relatively affordable! The buddy tried on a snack store nearby that still sells local old-fashioned Hong Kong fast food :D

The last stop is Lok Wah South Estate. Get to Kwun Tong MTR Exit A2 and find a 22M minibus will get you there! If you want to search further, that is Lok Wah South Estate Garage. Again, these blue pillared walls are on top of another parking structure. There are actually two levels of it, perhaps we went there on a weekday, there were not many people. It is famous for its circular photo op. Try some fun and playful photographs. I tried some failed stretching poses haha.

觀塘地鐵A2出口:22M小巴 -> 樂華南邨停車場

So this is a wrap on that day. If you want to take some good photos, you may spare for an hour for each spot and it really depends on if you like these places which are reminiscent of Hong Kong! With love, xoxo.
