The Altus Airman has been charged with possession of a simulated bomb and bomb-making material. The DA for Jackson County filed charges on AFB Airman Timothy Francis Carey. The DA says he had the bomb materials with the intent to either intimidate or harm another person or to do damage to property.
The felony charges carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a fine of $10,000.
Bond was set at $50,000 and he is set to appear in court October 31 in Jackson County District Court.
Search warrants at his home and at a storage unit in his name produced materials that could be used to manufacture of a bomb or incendiary device. No bomb was located, but a piece of PVC pipe that resembled a common pipe bomb was confiscated, along with other components and materials that could be used to make a bomb.

Police say the investigation started after witnesses said Carey told them he had explosives and could use them. No bombs were found in his home. However, materials for making a bomb were recovered by police.
Carey is being held in the Jackson County Jail, pending a hearing later this week.
ALTUS, Oklahoma - Federal authorities are working to learn more about an Oklahoma airman accused of planning to blow up an Altus Wal-Mart with homemade bombs.
Police say the community came very close to facing a tragedy before the serviceman was arrested Tuesday.
Federal authorities say senior airman Timothy F. Carey, 26, had all of the right ingredients to build bombs inside his Altus trailer where he lived. Police say Carey also stored ingredients in a storage unit he leased.
Investigators believe Carey had the intention of causing terror throughout the city. A Wal-Mart store, just north of downtown Altus, was the main target of the thwarted domestic terror attack, according to police.
"I couldn't imagine if this actually happened," Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy said. "If he carried out this threat … what kind of chaos it would have caused. Our resources absolutely would have been stretched."
Police say Carey bragged about his plan to build and set off bombs before he caught the attention of officers at Altus Air Force Base.
"These threats were serious," Murphy said. "He had intentions of carrying out these threats."
Witnesses who tipped off base officials say Carey planned on setting off bombs at the Wal-Mart to keep officers distracted while he set off additional bombs throughout the city.
For the most part, neighbors say Carey kept to himself. Some say he showed signs of mental instability.
"He does need help, and I hope that he gets that," neighbor Sherry Rawlins told News 9.
Other neighbors say they believe Carey was suffering from PTSD. U.S. Air Force officials declined to comment on Carey's mental health status or conduct record, but took time to give credit to the citizens who tipped off investigators.
"Altus Air Force Base leadership thanks the individuals who brought this incident to light," said Lt. Katie L. Cousins as part of a prepared statement.
AAFB officials declined News 9's requests to go on camera, Thursday, due to the ongoing investigation.
Carey was being held in the Jackson County Jail as of late Thursday. Police said Carey is refusing to answer questions from investigators. An initial court appearance had not been scheduled as of late Thursday.

Residents of Camelot Mobile Home Park said Carey lived in the area. They said they had no idea why several different law enforcement agencies were at their mobile home park all day long.
"I had no idea what trailer it was or who it was," resident Sherry Rawlins said. "I was kind of really afraid, because my home is here. My children come here and see me and my grandchildren come here and see me. I didn't know what was going on at all, so we were kind of scared and worried, like, ‘What is going on here?' You could see everything from my trailer."
Around 7:00PM Tuesday, two search warrants were executed; one on Carey's trailer at the mobile home park and another at a storage unit he rented on Falcon Road. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad and the FBI searched his home and found the explosives. Police and the US Air Force OSI then arrested Carey while he was at work at Altus AFB.
"I think we've stopped a serious threat here," Murphy said. "It may not have happened yesterday, but we very well could've stopped a threat that would've happened next week or next month. So I'm proud of everybody that was involved."
Carey is being held without bond at the Jackson County Jail, and he will have his initial appearance before a judge Thursday morning.
