MEGA Food Haul ~ Injured My Knee & Something New
We got about 300 lbs of food for $30 at the farmers market. There was so much food that we filled the trunk of our car.
We got different kinds of squash and many pounds of potatoes.
The squash went into the freezer for long term storage. When we pull some out, it turns out pretty good. We froze them whole with the skin on. We will have enough squash for the entire year. And we really love squash in this house.
We buried the potatoes under a few feet of sand out by the garden. This will keep them fresh and prevent them from freezing during the winter months. Sand is the perfect storage medium for potatoes. It holds the moisture level and temperature right for long term storage.
I injured my knee and am not going to be able to work on the homestead much for a few weeks. This is very bad for a homesteader to be disabled since there is always so much going on.
And this is when I created my new steemit account. I am catching you up on the videos since we moved to the homestead in the spring. This gives you the background story. When I have you caught up, I will continue to share videos and articles as we make them on our off grid homestead each day.

We all know what's going to happen. It's going to spoil. There's a sort of a theme going on there. The racoons killed my chickens. The frost got my harvest. My solar failed. The mice ...... You get the picture.
No. The squash is safely in the freezer.
The potatoes are under 3 feet of sand.

Cats are eating mice so we are good there too.

but you just commented that you haven't seen a single mouse this year. See when you lie on video it's not a good thing because you need a good memory to remember your lies. And the squash is safely in the freezer until a power failure.
I just went and looked at a pirated video of this and couldn't believe the bad condition of this produce. We feed these crappy vegetables to our chickens. They are on the verge of rotting already and he plans to eat for a year on them. Hope they don't force the kid to eat that crap. The potatoes are so tiny and rotting its no wonder he only paid thirty bucks for that mess. Never seen such bad corn in my life. Not a deal by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn't feed that to anyone I loved.
relying heavily on your freezer is not good sense. Using it to preserve meat is one thing but taking up valuable space for vegetables that can be canned is a waste of money.
WE love this! We get these hauls from time to time and we mostly can it and put it up in the pantry.
We were going to can the squash but we got a freeze so it went into the freezer whole. Turned out fine though.

you will be greatly disappointed in the squash after its been in the freezer for a while. I thought the freezer was full of deer, fish and chickens. How big is this freezer? A walk in?

@thediyworld ........... i think it is awesome that GROCERY STORE you got all of the food at offers such great deals , and it's awesome that you call them a farmers market even though the reviewers that posted the 3 reviews i looked at on their website thinks they are a grocery store also , and they even have a carwash ....... there are not any grocery stores or farmers markets here that have car washes . I want to share the reviews these fine people left so everyone knows how awesome this food store really is

I love Oleson's. Truly a great grocery store and a very generous family. I remember meeting the original owner Jerry Oleson back when I was in Boy Scouts in the 80's. They would let the local troops use their cabin on Long Lake for our winter retreats. Great man and a great American dream story. Their store now a days is very clean and the staff are pleasant and attentive. Sure the groceries might be a few penny's more than the mega mart down the road but it's worth it for the better service.

Great local grocery store.
Love that they carry local food and specialty items. An excellent selection of liquor and beer.

This grocery store beats having to wait in long lines at Meijer! I usually don't have to wait very long to check out here.
They sell local buffalo, you can find it in the frozen food section. Occasionally, they have fresh ground buffalo.
I am happy to see more and more local products being sold here, please keep them coming!
There is also a nice touch-less car wash here. AGAIN I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL EVERYONE HOW AWESOME THE GROCERY STORE , YOUR FOOD HAUL AND YOU ARE ............... UTTERLY AMAZING ,TRUELY .

Troy could you do a guide on how to purchase subs for a Youtube channel. I wish to start a channel and to get of to a good start in the New Year, I feel it would be a good start to have 20000 subs in the first three months.
What organization do you use? From your Socialblade User Statistics https://socialblade.com/youtube/user/techman2015 it appears you are buying subscribers at the rate of 50 per day. How much does this cost? Do you buy in multiples of 50, 100 etc? Or is it bigger blocks? What costs are involved for such purchases?

I have 2,000 videos on YouTube. I get subs watching older videos all the time.
In print it's called Libel. Seeing as how it is in print (so to speak) it tends to be it's own evidense.
If that's the case, which no one believes, then maybe you can explain how a person can have 103,000 subs and only a 3% new video viewership rate? There's NO ONE on YouTube who has a worse ratio. Either you're buying subs or there are a lot of stupid people out there lured to your videos for some unknown reason who then stop watching after the first couple of videos because they see you're a fraud. Which is it?
Or just maybe the trolls destroyed my channel, threatening lives of my subs?

That's just an excuse to cover for the fact that you make shit videos that are riddled with lies and DIY advice that is generally quite poor. So, how DO you buy subs?

Part of it is his click bait videos. He has a ton of views on that video where he put a tiny air conditioner in the first trailer and ran it on batteries. Anyone can do this the problem is for how long? He didn't cool his trailer with the ac because he didn't have the battery or solar setup for continued ac. He lived in an apartment away from the film site so it really didn't matter but the deceit has been profitable.
Your Socialblade statistics tell a story - a consistant story at that - that you are purchasing subs of around 50 a day. Any variations on the amount is where the subs have unsubscribed. Click on the link provided. You may want to vary the purchases in the future. It will look better.
