A day at the Missouri state fair part 2
If you missed part 1 you can check it out by clicking here.
After seeing the chickens and sheep we headed towards the 4h building to check out what the kids had on display this year. Along the way we saw a small building displaying animal life on the farm. When you entered there was a converted popcorn machine with a heat lamp in it hatching chicks. The sign said "The Original Popcorn Chicken". It was quite the attraction with all the children gathered around watching baby chicks pecking through their shells to free themselves and play with the other chicks that just hatched. I wish we could have taken some pictures, but there was a pretty big crowd and we couldn't get close enough. While we were there we did get pictures of pigletts and a donkey.
After leaving the Animal life on the farm display we made it to the 4h projects. There were vegetables, hay, canned goods, sunflowers, trailers, smokers, picnic tables, feeders, and even tractors that had been restored on display to be judged for awards. Below are a few of the restored tractors.
After we left the 4h building we went to see the winners of the largest pumpkin and watermelon. Pictured below are the winners.
To cap off the visit we saw an Alan Jackson concert and watched the fireworks display. By the time the fireworks were over it was after 11pm so it was time for the 2 hour drive home.
