Pig farming is a very lucrative business you can venture into. It is a part of animal husbandry that partake in the breeding of pigs and raised for domestic use or commercial use. Pig has different species that can be reared, but the best species to be reared for a profitable business are:

• Yorkshire pig
• Berkshire pig
• Tamworth pig
• Black pig
• Male foot pig.
  
  The main purpose for choosing pig farming is because, after raising a piglet to adult, a female pig can give birth to eight to twenty piglet at a time. Can you see that full time investing in piggery will bring in consistent incomes. A matured male pig today can be sold at the rate of $50 and above, while a matured female pig can be sold at the rate of $100and above. Assuming a raised pig gave to 10 female and a 10 male piglet at a time, then you will have 10x$50 and 10x$100. Wow! That's a great income for a good business.
  Again as a pig farmer, you can also diversify your business by supplying pig skin to industries that involves in leather production.

How lucrative is pig farming

• Piggery is very easy to rear, because of it low cost management, it means your income is higher than your expense.
• As I earlier said pig skin is very useful for leather production used in producing shoes, boot, bags, belts, football, jacket etc.
• Pig faeces make very good manure. So you can supply pig faeces to other farmer involved in crop production to aid their crops growth.

• Find the best location.
• Construct a good pig pen.
• Buy healthy piglets.
• Get good quality pig feeds
• Periodic cleaning or sanitation
• Employ experienced staff.

• The high cost of quality pig feed.
• Diseases and pests.
• Inexperience.
• Lack of water supply and electricity.
• Inadequacy supply after pig breed.
• Poor marketing.
• inability to produce pig stock.
