Yes I always do drawings so I know how much I need in materials. I also have to stare at it and take time to figure out how I'm going to attach everything and make everything work together.
I do what I would call crude drawings buy yours has more of a 3D look about them! Let's you really get an idea on what it is going to look like!
It depends on how much time I have to plan it out. If it's a last minute thing, my drawings would look like something only I can decipher.
