GOT TO KEEP THEM SEPARATED - BEING PRACTICAL AND EDUCATIONAL
This required some quick work!
Like many other animals, rabbits will fight. Also, like many animals, they have some nasty teeth. For this reason, it can be important to keep them separated.
BAD BOY BUCKS
Last month I made a trade with a young entrepreneur and wound up with a few new bucks. So far, they have mostly been doing well, until recently.
This poor guy apparently got his nose bit a few times. We certainly don't want these rabbits getting hurt, so we had to evaluate the issue and remedy the situation. Here is the basic problem.
Do you see how his head fits through the fencing separating the pens? Yup, he'll stick his head into the other bucks cage and then that bugger will bite him! OUCH! For problem-solving like this, I try to incorporate the @little-peppers. This way, if they ever run into similar issues one day, or find themselves in situations where they need to think about how to fix an issue, they will have some good experience. Lots of things in life can be used to teach, train, and instruct others, and we like to do just that with our children.
BUILD A WALL
The goal was to build a wall, but I didn't just want to show them how to do it, I wanted them to learn how.
We like to enjoy education in an organic environment that we call life, rather than a sterile environment. If my child is expected to know how to measure something, it won't just be random lines on a page for the sake of measuring random lines on a page.
There is no red "A" or "F" on a page here to show the child if they successfully completed the task accurately. No, they'll have to measure up!
This board was cut to the length marked, based upon the measurement that Pinkie-Pepper took. In this real life example, she learned the importance of measuring correctly. If the board was too long or too short, it wouldn't work for this project. She can see the importance of mastering the skill, rather than just knowing that she either did it correctly or incorrectly.
In the end, some skills were practiced by a few @little-peppers, we enjoyed some time together, built a small dividing wall, and have made things safer for our rabbits. Life is truly a learning experience, but only if you let it be!

Hah, your title had me a little confused, it read to me as "practical and educational should be kept separate." Glad you were writing about the opposite of that instead, it's a very important point to make.

Yea!!! most tasks have completed in my adult age is due to the fact that i was being train to measure up.

Great post, I've not been able to find alot of information on this elsewhere in the past. We had two male rabbits, at first they got on really well, but once the smaller one had got to about a year old he'd had enough. We came down one morning to a bloody scene where they'd been fighting all night. We had to then keep them totally seperated, which was just a bit sad to see as the eldest one still really loved his little brother!
Ouch! That is hard to see.
I didn't watch Watership Down as a kid, so it was quite a shock to see that!
