An awesome evening here in Nigeria, it feels so good to be on this great platform once again and what I will be writing on this evening is what I titled

LAND USES CONCEPT IN HUMAN ENVIRONMENT

The uses of land can change over time; different people in the environment may prefer different uses and functions and consider the use of land differently depending on their immediate need of it. It must also be noted that these uses may overlap in a particular environment and land use conflict may set in due to the difference interest and individual priority for the use of land in that environment.

Land uses concept in any environment must follow a pattern whereby the most important component will be how such use will not affect the health of the residents of such environment in both it functionality and dominant uses.

Meaning of land use

Land use can easily be define as the use to which a particular parcel or portion of land is being put to, it’s the act of putting a portion of land to a certain use or rather many uses if combine together. There are a lot of uses land can be put to such as residential land use, commercial land use, agricultural land use, recreational land use, institutional land use, industrial land use, religion land use, public and semi public land use.

Residential land use

This is the use of land for residential purpose such as the erection of buildings in an environment that residents of such an environment lives in, this use of land is mainly for sheltering people and their properties and it use to cover over 50% of the total land population in an environment.

Commercial land use

This is the use of land for revenue generation purpose i.e land is mainly use here so as to generate income such uses is the building of supermarket, market, hotel, filling stations and the likes.

Institutional land use

This is the use of land for academics purpose i.e land is use here to build schools, academics blocks and anything related to the academics aspect.

Recreational land use

This is one of the important land use after the residential land use and commercial land use because it’s the use of land for merriment and leisure uses of the residents; it’s the process of using land to build children playing ground, amusement park, open space, botanical garden and the likes.

Agricultural land use

Agricultural land use is the use of land for agricultural purpose whereby the portion of land is use for the cultivation of crops, vegetables, fruits and the likes and its one of the most important land uses.

Land uses concept must be detail and understand by each individual in the environment so as to curb or reduce land use conflict in the environment and that’s why every resident must understand the compatibility and incompatibility of land uses.

Compatible land use

These are land uses that are compatible together i.e they can be match together without any negative effect or rather side effect such compatible land uses are residential-commercial land uses [hotels and those buildings with shops] recreational-institutional land uses, commercial-recreational land uses.

Incompatible land use

These are land uses that are not compatible together and at times injurious to the resident health when combine together such land uses are residential-industrial land uses; such mixture is quite injurious to the health of the residents.

It’s very important to understand and abide to the land uses concept in every environment so as to maintain pure aesthetically features and make such environment injury free to the residents.
