Wednesday, April 28, 2021: Rain, Local Food, Liberty, and Crypto
It's been a slow week. I don't reckon I'll have much to post about besides planting out tomatoes and doing garden updates. I think the chickens are eating a lot of our bean and okra sprouts as they come up, so I'm going to have to stake off a lot more area, and probably end up going to war with the very nature of chickenness.
Hungry piggo eats boots
We got a goodly amount of spring rain today. High temps in the low 80s, it was 72° when I got home, and there was nearly two inches of rain in my rain bucket. No runoff from the property yet, that'll likely happen today. I hope to stay up long enough and wake up early enough to observe some of it because I want to see how my new earthworks are working.

I've been working slowly on making the food forest drain more directly to the front yard, rather than going across the back patio and risking running under the house. We haven't had a good rain to test the system since last summer before I started the house rebuild. That isn't to say we don't have good soil moisture though! This soul has retained moisture to excellent effect since installing the swales and mulching the beds.
Comfrey regrowing from last weekend
As always, I'm surprised how fast the comfrey is growing back. The giant one we harvested last weekend has already sent up new shoots. The chickens are enjoying the fresh growth. I'm about ready to harvest some more, especially the monsters growing under the granny smith apple tree. I wonder why certain ones are doing so much better than others... I'd like to try my hand this year at making some compost tea. I think a bit of comfrey, leaf ash, rabbit poo, and leaf compost will make an excellent addition to the tomato operation.

On the digital side of things, I've been helping my friends buy ARRR, an anonymous private crypto token on the Pirate Blockchain. ARRR is one facet of an organization called the BPSAA, Blockchain Privacy, Security, and Adoption Alliance. They have a lot of projects on their team that are empowering people with easy to use options to be more secure and private in their daily lives. I don't know much yet, but I'm getting more involved with their projects for obvious reasons. Anonymity can facilitate liberty, and you can't have real liberty without having privacy when you want it. I'm excited to be using parts of this project to benefit the enabling of liberty in my own life, and I'm trying to get more friends involved as well.
Speaking of which, @blocktrades and @ionomy, how long til you guys start supporting ARRR and the security and anonymity of your clients? It's a booming market, poised for a boom in the coming weeks, there's plenty of money to be made for exchanges that empower their customers. I know I'd give you some money in the process...
As a result of my own bullishness on ARRR, I've started a power down on my blog. The goal of course is to move to a more secure currency that I can use amongst my friends and community members. I've been doing this with BCH and XMR, and now I have an opportunity to get people into ARRR as well.
More people in crypto is a good thing for liberty.
Chickens in the rain, hiding under a dry spot with some food
Talking with new friends at work, there may be a new food coop forming in the greater North Texas liberty community. One guy here (who I'm also explaining crypto currency to) used to run a meat and egg co-op after he graduated from ag school. A lady at work is looking to buy land locally to start running a few dairy cows. Of course, my friend Sam is still sorting out his new homestead where he'd like to run a sustainable small scale pig operation. We may be bringing a big network deep into the fold of agorism, healthy eating, and free market food. Truly exciting times.
That's it for my little update for now. Like I said, postable life has been slow so I haven't posted yet this week. All is well here though, I've not yet been eaten by my pigs. If that does happen though, someone make sure and take care of the pigs for me, okay?
Love from Texas
