LESSONS FROM CHILDBIRTH DELAY AFTER MARRIAGE

in #homesteading7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

I want to share part of my story of a very close friend who had childbirth delay for 10 years after marriage.

DAYS OF UNDERGRADUATES……

Tola and Tade met as undergraduates at the University of Lagos.

The intending couple met at their 2nd year in the Faculty of Engineering at the University and developed interest for one another. They started going out as boyfriend and girlfriend. Studied together till late into the nights, then Tade will always walk Tola back to Moremi hostel after tutorials and late night studies at the Faculty of Engineering.

The duo were always seen and did stuffs together while on campus. They won the award for the best couple in the faculty at 400 level. The future seems so colorful for them as the lovebirds had a lot going so well for them.

Then came academic year 2002/2003, Tola and Tade wrote their final examination, graduated with good grades. Next was to serve our fatherland- Nigeria. This is usually the pride of every graduate. Especially, when dressed in the National Youth Service Corps regalia. The service year took another year, after which, the lovebirds got back to Lagos and started planning their wedding and future together as husband and wife.

THE BEAUTY OF MARRIAGE

The set day arrived, the wedding ceremony of Tola and Tade was colourful, beautiful, elaborate and glamorous.

The Wedding was a joyous occasion. There was plenty of food, so there was much to eat and drink. But most of all, there was the dancing. Everybody danced.
Families on both sides of the family came from far and near to celebrate the joyous event together.
As part of the rich culture of the Yorubaland, prayers were said to the couple, that:
They will be helper and encouragement to one another
They will have last and enduring love for one another
They will be fruitful in their body, job and every aspect of their lives together.
They will be there for one another in sickness, health, for better, for worse.

THEN…….

Tola and Tade lived happily as husband and wife. They were actively involved in kingdom stewardship in their church.
They were doing so well at their jobs, spend time together, go to the cinema, and do house chores together and so on. It can be said of their home all the good things that happens in a home between couples that are really in love and understands one another so well.

Looking forward to motherhood, Tola hoped to conceive, feel and bond with the tiny baby, nurture and raise a growing child to maturity, developing a relationship with her child.
First year, second year, still counting; third year till the tenth year. They were expectant, desirous of having their own children. Then she became apprehensive.

Delay in childbirth is a problem that brings unhappiness to most marriages especially in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

They went for several tests, but doctors told them to be patient. Doctors told them they were both okay medically, but nothing changed. In some places, they said it was mere anxiety that was stopping Tola from conceiving, so they told her to be calm. In some other places, they said Tade had low sperm count, so they had to review his diet. I guess they did their best.

Despite all these, they still had their faith intact in God that He would answer their prayers and they will have their own children, who will call them Mummy and Daddy. To show that they trust and believe God answers prayers, they prepared their son’s room, bought baby accessories to equip the room in commensurate to their faith.

To my amazement, in all these Tade kept assuring Tola of his love irrespective of what her in-laws says.

The big question is How many of our men in this generation can do this?

Tola enjoyed enough support and encouragement from Tade. Then, it happened.

Tola was terribly ill one day, she was vomiting, and very feverish. Then, Tade rushed her to the hospital, were she was tested and confirmed that she was pregnant.

Yes, you heard me, pregnant. And that called for another honeymoon for the Tade and Tola.

Now her dreams and aspirations on Motherhood became a reality.

Thank you all for reading.
