A Day Out At The Camp Cabin

Well I spent several hours out at the Camp Cabin today. It was a gorgeous Fall day, which started out quite warm, with a south wind blowing things around. The leaves are changing fast all of a sudden! Last week very little color. This week a whole lot of color.

I took my dog Annie with me. She is not quite a year old, and is still getting used to traveling in a car. It still scares her some, but today she loaded very easily, after she became consigned to her fate, lol!

So on the road we went, and after a couple errands we headed out on the drive to our land! Here are a few things we saw along the way:

Once we arrived, and I got Annie settled, I unloaded some personal things, and then began unloading a number of large rock that I took out there for the hearth I am building for my small woodstove. So back and forth I went from car to cabin until they were all unloaded.

Today I did not go to the cabin to work, I mostly went to relax, and plan for Saturday, which is my big work day coming up! So I mostly sat around camp making lists, enjoying the beautiful warm day, and even took a short hike.

Annie pretty much sat around too!

All day long there were little adventures like when I went mano a mano, with this Yellow-Jacket:

After many shouts and declarations of my preeminence, I won! Then I took you some pictures of my new planters:

But mostly I sat around soaking up all the sights and sounds of the forest until dusk started to fall:

While Annie and I were sitting there we were entertained by a Mole friend, who was feverishly working at clearing his tunnels of excess dirt! He kept popping his head up quickly as he labored. He did much more work than I today! I tried to take a picture, but he was a very quick little fellow!

Annie was very excited by our friend, and thought she should be able to help him see the light of day, but Mama made her go to the car, because daylight was fading fast! Then we had a leisurely drive home with a stop for coffee! It was a very very good day!!!

It sound like you spent the day taking time to smell the roses, good for you. In my neck of the woods, leaves have fallen, except those of the Oak trees, their leaves are still totally green. Love the picture from the car of the dirt road. Dirt roads equal, lack of traffic, lack of people, privacy, solitude, time for reflection, and a sense of peace.I see that you can make the round trip in a day. How far are from your main residence.

About forty miles give or take. The oaks here are well into changing color. I often choose to drive dirt roads over pavement. I had enough of traffic and cement when I lived in SoCal!
