Hi Everyone,

Following on from my introducemyself post, here are some pics of my little green beast. A 1970's Ferrari Alpine Tractor. It's a 40hp mountain goat. I drive it down off the back wall of our dam slashing. No problem.

Also some pics of our place and our horses.

Hope all is well and will be back behind the keyboard after sundown.20190401_135558.jpg

Nice pics! Good for you that you came back to your origin. I also returned to my father's land together with my family. And we are happy here. We live on around 11 acres of land in a village in Bosnia. We have apple orchard with 1500 trees, we keep pigs and sheep. We do everything organic, no chemical pesticides nor artificial fertilser is used on my land. Do you have any animals on your farm?

Hello Friend,

Snap bro our place is 11 acres also. My partner & I moved back here a few years ago to help run. We have 4 horses left after our stud passed. It's their twilight years. Also chickens, cats & dogs.. The main aim is to keep growing healthy produce and in the future look into truffle farming. Possibly from hazelnut rootstock so as to have a double yield crop.
We did cherries & apples 40+ years ago, but the land is to steep and to small for viability.
Really glad you reached out and said hi.

I'll post more on what we do and look forward to seeing posts on your farm.

All the best.

J.

Thanks for the reply! I'm looking forward to see more pics from your farm. It's very interesting to see that because it's very different from what we can see in Europe. The landscape is very different.

Ok I like the green monster but I like the horses even better!! Are they yours? And how is the Steemit life going?

Hi sorry for the late reply.

Yes they are all that is left from our Stud. We had two stallions throughout the 35+ years my parents were running it.

At one time we had around 30 horses.. now it is down to jus 4.

They are big pets enjoying their twilight years.

J.

Great, i wish i could ride on the beach again

Oh yeah. Something I have only ever done once in my life.
I can appreciate why Hindu see the cow as sacred.
There is a certain divinity to large quadrupeds.
Our horses are old. I have been digging large holes at least once a year these days. Last one was for Bentley, our most excellent Shetland..He was 38 when we euthanased him.
We rug our horses at night at the moment as Winter is coming.
I like it. I take them an apple each at the start.. I get to spend some time in their space. In their consideration. I find it the best way to define what it is when being near the and communicating with them. It's an intentive measure of formal sought & consideration.
I love them dearly and they have taught me a lot.
If you like I will find some pics of Bentley and post them..

The tractor's looking good for her age. Have you cleaned her up a bit?

Thankyou. I bought it for $1300 out of Geelong, Victoria.

And so far i have spent around twice that getting it back up to something reliable.

They are just amazing on steep land.

We have 100m's of elevation on our 11 acre property.

All the rules for driving a tractor on slopes got tossed out the window. I turned the wheels out to maximum stance.. sits at just over 1.8m.

And now can drive on any slope, any way, any how.

They are wee little rippers.

"Ahh.. If it wasn't against the Law I'd Marry ya!" ~ Grounds Keeper Willy talking to his Tractor..

I hear ya Brother.

Haha! Wth who'd have thought they made tractors for mountain farming! Where there's the demand, I guess. Looks like you've done a fine job on her.

There it's a list of homesteaders and preppers to be found on Steemit here and it would be lovely to see the Australia list grow, if you and Moz are interested in being added. I keep hoping @mazzle will get around to getting himself added too. Just leave a comment there and @pennsif will happily add you to the list. It helps us to find each other.
