WE PUT 20 WATERMELON PLANTS IN THE GROUND🍉😋
One of the things on the to-do list today was to plant our watermelon seedlings.
A few weeks ago we prepped the area where we are going to plant the watermelons. To get the area ready we cut the grass as low as possible. Then we laid cardboard in a 30 foot by 40 foot area. On top of the cardboard we put a layer of compost and then a layer of double ground mulch. The cardboard, compost and mulch will help smother out and kill the grass and weeds.
We planted the watermelon seedlings about 2-2.5 feet apart. If you didn't know watermelons grow on a vine and they need a lot of room to grow. The Watermelons will eventually grow out of there 30 foot by 40 foot area. So we plan on keeping the grass as short as possible that is in front of the vines. May even use some more cardboard so the vines don't get lost in the grass.
We should get two to four watermelons out of each Vine. With 20 Vines hopefully we'll end up with 40-80 watermelons out of this patch. We'll definitely keep y'all updated on the progress. Any tips or tricks on growing watermelons would be greatly appreciated!

The cardboard method is fascinatingly simple.

Thank you. It works pretty well!
I really like the name of the farm. Honest open permaculture.
Thank you. I really appreciate it!
Nice, good luck with that, seems on the good way.
Like I was mentioning to you a while ago, we moved to a new appartment and have a small balcony on the 5th floor a little bigger than the previous one we had.
I'm interested in your suggestions and comments, we did good I thnik, but put too much stuff in our vedgetable pots and will not be able to use the greenhouse soon due to some too high stuff in it.
What would be your suggestions for next year or even possible manipulations for this year?
