Daffodil Daydreams

Spring is in the air. After a cold and wet winter, I couldn't be more ready for it to arrive. The daffodils around my house are always the first to relay the message that winter is on its way out. Their bright yellow petals bring joy and relief. I was raised in Florida so the cold weather is not my favorite. These little flowers also remind me that I better get ready to be really busy as the last frost approaches and my seeds get ready for sprouting.

This year, we are trying a few new things in the garden and I'm excited. Our new additions include a purple sweet pepper, the ha'ogen melon and Ali baba watermelon, some French heirloom radishes and a pepper called the ozark giant. It's always fun to see what happens with new garden additions and it keeps things interesting.

We are also breaking ground for our Earthbag home this spring and will be working to complete that through the year. I will document this as we go so I can share the process with y'all. After being in a sort of house limbo for a few years now, I can't wait to have a home to care for and call my own.

What are y'all excited about doing when spring arrives?

Sort:

So glad spring is showing up in Alabama. That means in 3 to 4 weeks, it will finally reach Indiana.

Here in Burgundy, France my daffodils have started to bloom. Spring is just around the corner.

Cleaning out the 32 remaining herb and flowerbeds that never got done last fall. I like to have it done before things come up, it's much harder later. We had an unusual heat wave here this week and I got 5 of the 37 gardens cleaned out.

Nice! It's been really warm here too. I prefer it to the chilly rain for sure.
