An Off-Grid Laundry House to Die For
On our homestead since we have no city water or a washing machine, my wife Joann has been doing laundry by hand for the past five years nearly every other day, when the sun is shining. (My daughter Jaimie is pictured).
The first thing I built on our homestead was a laundry station which we used up until this year. The first year we would draw water from our well one bucket at a time. Later she filled her buckets from a water tank. We were 64 years old when we moved off-grid and now that we are not far from 70, I figured it was time to make her life a little easier with a laundry house, complete with roof and running water inside the laundry house. No more buckets to carry.
The old laundry station consisted of two pallets with a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood for a floor with a table and frame to mount the clothes ringer.
The new Laundry house has two washing stations, one for my daughter and one for Joann. The table top is made from cedar planks and each station has a sink. There are two faucets for filling their laundry buckets. The floor is gravel so the water will not puddle and freeze in the winter.
The finished laundry house.

Looks good Sir! I'm sure the women there appreciate the setup! On another note...you must share your secret on how you keep getting @blocktrades to upvote your posts??? : - D
I'm not convinced. I hate to waste time (mine or wife's time) on things which could be done by a machine.
How about a normal washer powered by solar panels? You'd need a buffer battery between the two, but I think it's worth it.
The homestead keeps looking better and improving every day. Keep up the good work!
Huge upgrade and I'm sure it's going to be appreciated well into the future. Nice job!

This is just too cool!
How does drying work in the winter when its below freezing?
Thanks for sharing your off grid experience with us. I have to agree with one of the other replies. A solar powered laundry or at least washing machine would make life a lot easier. 🐓🐓
