1000 Filled Pots In The Greenhouse
Yesterday was an amazing day here on the farm. It was pot filling day. The greenhouse is getting fired up for the season, and the supplies were rolling in.
There were a total of 1,000 pots. 600 were 12 inch pots, and 400 were 10 inch.
We were using a professional potting mix. That alone was an adventure! I unloaded two very heavy pallets from a semi truck using a tractor. Getting them from the truck to the greenhouse was touch and go. The pallets were stack crooked and leaning to the side. Going down hill and turning....was a real butt clencher!
It was a whole family effort though. There were boxes to open, pots to assemble, soil to haul, bags to open, fill the pots, and then stack the pots.
Stacie D was digging deep and filled nearly every pot!
It was nice to get our hands in the dirt. Since we landed in the frozen north it has been snow everyday. We have yet to see the grass here.
Over the next week those pots will all be filled with the plants the farm owner plans to sell. Not only that....but we got the greenlight to start planting vegetables!
If you all know us, we are all vegetarian and vegan.....we eat veg by the pound! I am really excited to have an opportunity for fresh veg before the proper season begins.
It has been so nice to be able to participate doing homestead activities. As part of Global Homestead Collective, we get to see so many great projects!
There are so many people doing so many incredible things, it is nice to be a part of a great community!

In April we will also be participating in the Global Blockbuilders Conference in Austin, Texas! Check in out...

next time you're going to make your own soil, right?
So, that it will all be right there, so you won't have to clench your butt moving it.
^_^
Haha I would love to make my own soil. We will be working on it this summer in the garden. Since this is for their business we were just helping out. The tractor ride could have been rough if I spilled it haha
That's awesome! Congratulations on such a huge job! I kind of wish there was a video of the tractor ride though....
Yeah?! It would have been a bunch of wimpering and squealing haha
But very entertaining for those of us not on the tractor! That sounds mean. I've been in enough dicey situations driving horse trailers around and I wish I had video so I could see it from outside once the adrenaline subsided.

Haha right!
Hope more vegies harvest coming season and more people benefit to eat veg...
The veggies will come. Many will eat!
There ya go boy! Getting busy on the homestead. Man, that's good to read about your progress and it inspired me to start looking at pots for my started seeds. I think I'm gonna go with Solo cups! Also, looking on Amazon there's an inexpensive greenhouse that I'm gonna try and talk the wife into letting us get. That would be super awesome :) it's small, but very affordable and probably perfect for our scale and would get our seeds out of her laundry room which will greatly improved "relations..."
