THE BIRDS HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED, NOW MY PROJECT BEGINS FULLY

been so long that i have posted on the steemit platform due to my tight schedule. It has not been easy most especially since my school project commenced. The project is to test the effect of a particular herbal root on the performance of broiler chicks from day old to 8 weeks of age.

The birds have been booked for over two weeks and on Monday it was delivered. the total number of the birds is 300 and the supplier added six more to it; totaling 306. Now the brooding stage is where we are now and we are really doing our best to ensure the birds get the convenience they need so that we do not suffer any mortality or we have a very low mortality.

The feed we have been giving them is broiler starter which was compounded by us using the formula given to us by our second project supervisor in person of Dr. Mohammed who is a pHD holder.

Well to some extent, the birds have been doing fine though we have been having issues with rats. Seriously, this tiny animals are just a big problem for us . We have tried using the means we know of to reduce them to a bearable level but they keep increasing and we have to be careful using poison for them so that they do not transfer this to our birds.

The heat source used for this project are:

Electricity has not been that constant, so we use an Elepaq Generator for now cos the birds will not eat and will not be that active if they do not see light. So we are spending a lot to get fuel for the generator and also for the purchase of charcoal.
