New year, new opportunities and a new website

in #homesteading6 years ago (edited)

I hope you've had a really nice christmas and new years eve! We've spent the entire holiday at home, in sweat pants. It's been all about good food and time to rest while everybody is trying to recover from a cold that never seems to give up.

I thought it was about time I made a post about what is going on and why I've been so quiet here, there is a reason.

I'll try to give you the short version. I've been working mostly on my crafts and making some changes in my former plans this last couple of months. Like what I want to do about my crafts and how I want to make progress in my homesteading journey. I attended a christmas market in the beginning of december and I actually got to sell some of my crafts, I made more money there than I've made in a long time. That has given me the hope to make an effort to try and market myself again. I found some new products I want to make and I've done a lot of planning for next year with a friend of mine. We might be gardening together this summer and we attended the christmas market together, she's more into sewing and produce other items than I do. We got the idea for the market less than four weeks before it, but we managed to fill up the small market stand we had.

I started by moving everything except the loom into the empty appartment in our other house, so now I got my own work shop again! I even got a room only to display the things I've finished and the things I have for sale, if I ever wanted to I could make it into a small store. Right now I'm waiting for more furnitures so that I can have more workspace and I need more storage to be able to see what material I have to work with. I got my sewing machine up there and I started making more reused items that I can sell or use myself.

This was my daughter's favourite. I got my christmas gift in that bag on christmas eve. It's made from an knitted sweather.

I bought a cardboard box filled with leather from a friend so now I also make bags from leather and felted fabric.
This is my first attempt and this was the best picture I could find. I've almost finished it since the picture was taken.

And I got a job offer. I'll be going back to a former employment, but on less hours. I'm only going to work for 10 hours a week instead of the 20 hours I used to work. That leaves me with 10 hours I can use to keep going at it with my crafts or maybe go back to study some courses I'm interested in. The goal with the courses is to be able to handle a possible business if that ever is to happen. If that never happens I think they might come in handy anyway.

I know I can't make a decent living selling my crafts, but I might be able to get some income and then work some. See where I'm going here? With this employment I might get the chance to do that.

I also mentioned before that I was working on a website, this is the third site I've set up and I finally got it the way I wanted it to be. It's far from finished, but you can go take a peek if you like.

My new website: http://coffeeandtomatoes.heymo.se/

I would really appreciate any feedback on my site, leave me a comment or send me a message on the website.

See you soon.
