Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind....Solution!
When we harvest our wheelbarrow full of potatoes and onions, they all get stored in loosely weaved wicker baskets in single layers separated by newspaper to keep them fresh. They get tucked into the cool dark pantry so they are slower to sprout or go bad.
If you store your produce away like this too, often it is easy to find yourself in that 'out of sight out of mind' mentality. You will, of course, remember you have potatoes but you are less likely to eat them if they aren't there on the site and ready to use.
A simple solution to this is to use upright wire file/organizers! If you take just enough potatoes or onions out to fill an organizer and place them neatly on your counter you are more likely to grab some to use in that soup or saute or to throw them in the oven to roast with that next meal you are preparing. This also would work well with garlic too!! We plan to pick a few of these up for this purpose.

I know all too well the out of sight, out of mind problem. But one needs counter space for this solution. Maybe one day soon.....
I wonder if you could get some good strong hooks to hang these onto the wall? Just an idea for you if you don't have counter space. We have a small counter between the fridge and stove that three of these would fit perfectly....just under the spice cabinet. But I understand not having a lot of counter space. We don't have a ton either.
