Adventure on the Homestead

With the recent snowfall we have been stranded on our mountain. With me still dealing with illness, and my wife's fear of driving our steep mountain side driveway, we have had a couple of weeks of being snuggled up on the hillside and getting a bit of cabin fever.

This is the wife and older kiddos heading down the mountain to meet a friend bringing mail and groceries at the bottom of the mile and a quarter driveway.

One of the things we love about the snow is how quiet it is outside. The deep snow absorbing sound offers moments of peace and tranquility that we only experience in the depths of the winter .

It is easy to get grumpy or depressed when it is cold, the animals water freezes daily, and we can only dream about planting out future groceries. But it is in this time we need to reflect on lessons learned the previous year, give our bodies time to rest and regenerate, and make ourselves a plan for the year to come.

So during these cold winter months, find the joys of winter. Find the blessings that are easily overlooked this time of year and get your batteries recharged for the high speed, hustle and bustle of spring and summer.
