Dehydrating Bread... Say What?
I've always taken what we used to call 'day old' bread and made my own bread crumbs.
You know the traditional way to do this- Bake in oven on low heat until dried out, pulverize, store in airtight container and add seasonings when ready to use.
But I happened to come across a prepper's top list of ways to save money recently and he mentioned dehydrating old bread to make bread crumbs.
Use my dehydrator? OMGoodness! I had never thought of that.
Well today it is hot, humid and the thermometer is going to be inching its way up to almost 90-degrees. Not ideal conditions to turn my oven on, even at 250-degrees until the extra loaf of homemade bread I made last weekend either molds or turns too yeasty to eat.
So, it's time to test the dehydrate bread advice.

Cut into fairly thin slices
Place on dehydrator trays
Put into food processor or zipped food storage bag and roll out with rolling pin. Store in airtight container and season when ready.
NOTE to self- next time make croutons. The bread is crispier and harder than when drying in oven. Should result in awesome croutons
