Anthony Mackie has taken his love of making fun of Tom Holland to a new, personal level.
The actor, who plays Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had high praise for Spider-Man: Homecoming's Holland during a panel at MCM Comic Con in London this weekend, acknowledging the actor's skill stepping into the iconic Spider-Man role.
"He brings an energy and a vigor to that role that you've never seen in Spider-Man," Mackie said. "He held his own with RDJ [Robert Downey, Jr.] in an amazing way. That first opening sequence with him getting the suit and being in the car is hilarious and amazing."
But then he got into the jokes, in particular about Holland's choice of underwear.
"He's the kind of dude that looks like he wears tighty-whities," Mackie joked. "Men, you know what I'm saying. You're at a bar and you're talking to a girl and some guy walks up and starts talking to her -- you say to yourself, 'I bet this dude wears tighty-whities.' That's Tom Holland."
The jokes about Holland's underwear choice is just the latest salvo in Mackie's good-natured war against the Spider-Man star. Mackie and Winter Solider actor Sebastian Stan first started roasting the younger actor during press rounds for Captain America: Civil War and Mackie has kept up the jokes ever since. The Falcon actor has notably crashed Holland's interview with Benedict Cumberbatch at San Diego Comic-Con to give him his "juice box" so he wouldn't get cranky and even brought the war to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, comparing Holland to a Shih Tzu dog.
Of course, Mackie didn't just leave the trash talk to a mentione of Holland's unmentionables in London. Mackie doubled down and said that he had a plan to help Holland out once they're finished shooting Avengers 4, but not without offering one last jab.
"I'm going to get him a pair of boxer briefs -- I'm going to make him grow up. No more Tighty-whitie Tom," Mackie said. "That's what I call him by the way. You can call him that."
It will be interesting to see how Holland, who has joked in the past that he loves "giving Anthony Mackie something to talk about" will fire back.
Mackie and Holland will next appear in Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War premiering May 4, 2018.
