Who Do We Serve?

With so many people in need in the world, who do we help?

seeing photographs like these makes us feel many emotions
anger
sadness
anxiety
guilt
shock

The world is real out there

if you are reading this you are most likely
on your own personal computer,
have had food with in the past five hours,
and have had some years of training in formal education

Something that these children pray for and things that we take for granted...

Now this isn't meant to make you feel guilty or sad
I want to share an idea

We all want to help those in struggling situations
like these children in my clip art
they are the most vulnerable of all of humanity

However, to help these children the right way it can be very hard or very easy
no real in betweens
(for example
-"Very Hard Way" establish your own program overseas that holistically helps the development of these children in the way they specifically need it
-"Very Easy Way" donate to an organization that is established in these countries supporting the development of these children in the way they need it, like UNICEF)

But these are two extremes that we turn down fast
Yes,
even the easy one which is just donating money
We've all seen the commercials for donating to children in need
and many of us don't do anything,
(speaking for myself of course and my family)

And why don't we?
Because it is easy to do and it is also easy not to do

Who do we need to serve?
It is tuff to say that we need to first focus on helping those around us

Now here me out
children in developing countries need help, yes, of course, without a doubt
but for us,
people in a different country thousands of miles away

we just cannot give these children the specific help they need,
mentally, emotionally, and physically

We don't know their struggle
we don't know their culture

But who's struggle do we know?
who's culture do we know?

The people around us
the people around us every day who go through similar problems we have been through

Now these people we could help with less effort and more reward,
for them and you
Look around there are people that speak your language,
drive in the same traffic
and live in the same city

Help them
Help those around you
serve them
(that is how communities are built)

We must help those in need in other countries
as well, but that's another conversation

(or you could always donate to The United Nations Children's Fund
it is as easy as that too)

but the idea I want to share is that you don't have to go to great lengths to make a huge impact
actually,
the greatest impact will be to those around you

for those that you can help the way they specifically need it
