Indonesia, Bali and Gili Islands...

in #holiday8 years ago (edited)

Earlier this year I was in Indonesia. More precisely, Bali and the Gili Islands.
Two and a half weeks with my boyfriend. It was a wonderful trip and I would like to share some of my experience and photos with you :-)

The trip from Denmark to Bali takes barely a day, so when we arrived at the airport in Denpasar at midnight local time, we were very tired. The result is that my bag was stolen (bye bye iPhone and credit card!).

Ubud:
The first 3 nights was in a city named Ubud, it is located in the heart of Bali. We stayed at Santun Homestay (link: https://www.tripadvisor.dk/Hotel_Review-g297701-d9750975-Reviews-Santun_Homestay-Ubud_Bali.html) a small family run hotel. It costs like nothing, but is perfect if you do not want luxury, just a quiet and nice place to sleep.

In Ubud is a lovely quiet atmosphere and not so many tourists. There is also a Monkey Forest, so if you like monkeys, this is the place to visit.

We rented a scooter, which is clearly recommending. It's super easy to get around and people are very helpful.
There is a lot of beautiful places to go on your own if you like (waterfalls, temples, rice fields and more)

From Ubud we took a bus to Sanur, located on the east coast. Buses / taxis do not cost much, but be aware that they NEVER come at the scheduled time, a half hour before/after is very normal in Bali.

Sanur:
We stayed one night at Puri Hiromi (link: https://www.tripadvisor.dk/Hotel_Review-g297700-d1871273-Reviews-Puri_Hiromi-Sanur_Denpasar_Bali.html).
We had a big apartment with private pool. We got breakfast delivered to the room and everything was top notch.
But Sanur is a real tourist town, so we headed for the beach and got a boat ticket to the Gili Islands for the next day.

Gili:
We stayed five nights in a bungalow on the east coast of Gili Air (my favorite island).
Our only purpose of stay out here was to go snorkeling and just enjoyed life in

paradise

.

...More to come very...Hope you'll be back soon!
