Custom Figurine - Montana State University Bobcat Defensive Lineman

I finished the final custom figurine our of 3 lineman orders this past week, this one a former Defensive Tackle from my old alumni, Montana State University, the Bobcats. Since my base figure company didn't make very many lineman poses I have had to adapt and make custom poses using parts from a number of different figures. This one was maybe one of the most extreme with part from 7 different McFarlane sports picks.

Matt was a large guy in his playing days, weighing in at around 300 pounds. He was a Montana kid, walked on the team and stuck it out for 4 years getting to be a starter his final year. Pretty impressive.

So in the picture above, the entire lower body was from one player pose (Heath Miller), the torso was from one (Howie Long), the arms from one (Demarcus Ware), facemask from one (Jamaal Charles), the helmet from one (Leshaun McCoy), the chin strap and head from two others (don't recall who these parts came from). You can also see I had to do some sculpting/putty work, adding knee pads, changing the shoes to match the Under Armour style he wore, doing minor modifications to sleeves and waist of torso.

My goal is always to try to match the equipment the player wore, getting the details is key to making a custom figure look awesome. Here are some pictures of his gear which you will see on the figure.

Shoes

Gloves

You might not notice but Matt dropped about 100 pounds after he quit playing.

Thanks for looking, appreciate any comments or questions. If you are on facebook, here is my page there which has all the pieces I have finished: www.facebook.com/bigskycustoms.

Another awesome creation. I think you would gain a lot of new clients by adding steemit into the world, creating these for the whales on here. Since you have a back-order list already, there is no need though. I can't imagine the time and focus needed for the little details.

actually I am kind of surprised no one has even asked on here about ordering one but yes, I am so very backed up, well over a year out, that I shut down any orders until next year. I just don't have time to do as many requests as I get. Thanks for your kind words though, I appreciate them. The frustrating thing for me is I will get a giant boast on a post similar to this, from @curie or @ocd but then nothing really after that. There aren't really a lot of "followers" who consistently like my various posts. I got a little carried away yesterday and made 4 posts but all were on different subjects, and then two again this morning, with this being an actual 5th different subject matter. Oh well, by now I understand how things work much better and these kind of results, will disappointing are not unexpected.

Yes, sadly that is how steemit functions. That is unless you have the continuous support of the 'big' people. You will get those one or two time hits from curie or ocd to encourage you to stay, but I've seen plenty that receive those big hits and still leave because they get pennies after. That's why it becomes a must-do to join a community to receive support and even then, the support might be minute. No way around it from what I know right now. All we can do is continue to support one another as we grow, even then, only so much us small people can do.
