Custom Baseball FIgurine by Big Sky Customs
I haven't been posting many of my custom figurines, mainly because they really don't seem to garner much interest, there are no cryto discussions, there is really no great tags to use for them and overall, people on Steemit really don't seem that interested in this hobby. Part of the reason I believe is that it is something pretty unique to Steemit. There are a lot of guys doing this hobby but none on Steemit that I am aware of. I have a huge following at Facebook but that is where I get my business and using the features of their pages can invite other people who like a post due to tagging the individual I increase my following. Not so easy on here. But I will still continue to post these, maybe a few people will like them.
Charlie Hatley - Colfax Bulldogs
This is the second figurine of Charlie I have made, I made another fielding pose a couple years ago. His mother-in-law is a high school classmate of mine and an ardent follower of Big Sky Customs on Facebook. This time they wanted a batting pose and a different uniform, so I went with the black jersey.
Here is Charlie at bat
This figure was a pretty basic repaint although I did have to replace the head with a Caucasian head, as I had used an Alfonso Soriano figure. I chose this figure mainly based on the fact it already has the high socks. I did have to dremel off the shin protector that came on the figure I used.
The hardest thing to make was the decals for the bat, as I didn't have any pictures of the actual bat, but the miracle of the internet allows us to find pictures of darn near anything if you know what to look for. Apparently this was a special bat that was given to Charlie and it meant a lot to him, I didn't know that when I was making the figurine but when he was given it yesterday, he got a bit emotional I heard. That is the great thing about adding the little details to these.
Pictures of the bat
After prep work which included removing the shin guard and replacing the head with one from another player and adding the second ear cover for a high school batting helmet, the figurine is primed, decals made and painting is completed. And the parts are glued back together and added to base.
Charlie was presented the figurine last night by his mother-in-law and he loved it.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my post. I hope you like the work I do.
This one is pretty sweet, bat turned out pretty dang good
yeah the bat story is pretty cool, didn't even know it when I decided to make that bat, then had to find pictures and make sure it was the same one, etc.
Congratulations you have been upvoted and resteemed as part of #newbieresteemday's top 10 posts for the day! ...

thanks for the resteem! I haven't see you guys in my last few posts so figured I was no longer a newbie? Glad to see you back.
Hey, good to see a post of yours that’s not beer related. Lol, not saying there is anything wrong with that. But happy to read of another interest.
Btw, you’re still a newbie until rep 45. Then we have to spread the love. Shame that we don’t have ability to help more of us grow on here.
yes I have other interests but for the most part when I posted these kind before they languished and the beer ones did better. I'm close to 45 (at 44 now) but that doesn't mean much, my typical post gets about $1-$2 on a good day, so just becuase i have been posting a lot and commenting a lot, I have built up my rep. Thanks again.
I agree with you. Some of our veteran members are up in the 50’s but they don’t earn much either. Some less than you do. Initially the initative is to help support newbies in their first 30 days. Most wont go higher than 45 on avg. But I do see the disconnect with rep and earnings. Higher rep doesn’t dictate higher earnings. At the moment, we may not be able to vote on your post if over 45, but we can resteem some if you continue to use the newbieresteemday hashtag. At least help to get more exposure.
ok I will continue to use that tag since i have trouble coming up with enough tags, especially on my custom figurines. I will be posting more of these, just had kind of a drought on completing many in the past couple months. Plus Steemit has a tendency to suck up time doing posts that I would other wise be working on custom figurines. Thanks for your support though.
A lot of people use those voting bots and I just don't get that, seems kind of like an artificial way to do this.
Dude I can tell you that if I had seen this while it was still in payout I would have given you my 100% upvote and voted it through one of my curation accounts as well. Great post. Absolutely love the details on the bat and the story of Charlie's reaction. I sure hope you do keep posting about the figurines you make. Do me a favor and leave me a reply to this comment when you next make a detailed post about a figurine? I will promote it for you :) Cheers - Carl
Thanks Carl, I started following you, I hope to do a few more soon. I’ll let you know, if you follow me you’ll see the next one I hope. I’ve posted a few others in the past you might want to check them out.
I already followed you, but at this point I have followed so many people that I miss stuff in my feed all the time. If you think about it, please do let me know through a comment reply to me when you post another detailed post about your custom figurines. I check my replies all the time. I upvote through several curation accounts, I can give you a nice boost. I will check out your past posting on this subject, very interested in it :)
Cheers
Will do, part of reason I haven’t posted as many was the fact there has been very little interest in the posts and I’m really not sure which tags work best if any, so I will appreciate the support
Ok, I just did a 3 part post about two female basketball players I just finished last week. take a look at all three parts and let me know what you think.
