Any Craft Beer fans??
Curious if there is anyone else here that loves craft beer and trying new brews?
What are your favorite types of beer? What are your favorite breweries? What do you recommend?
Lets see. For me, I love stouts and porters. The darker the beer the better for me. I love smokey flavors of stouts and really tend to love a good milk stout for the creaminess and mix of that stout smokiness I adore. I like porters for their initial flavor and the room for creativity brewers can get with them.
One of my favorite beers is St. Peters Cream Stout, North High Brewing (Columbus OH brewery Milk stout) and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

My favorite beers to drink are probably Belgian style ales. I really like a strong beer. The Sixth Glass might be my favorite. The brewery that makes that is Boulevard, who also make a farmhouse ale called Tank 7, which also ranks pretty highly on my list.
I'm also big fan of IPAs. A few stand out... Heady Topper, Hopslam!, On The Wings of Armaggedon.
Beer.
Love the Tank 7, but my favorite Boulevard beer is still the Unfiltered Wheat(especially draft).
What's not to love about a tankard of Belgian Ale!
My favorite that I've tried lately would have to be Guldendraak.
Hopslam is amazing, too. It's got a thick, honeylike mouthfeel to it.
I too love belgians, but usually belgian imports like corsendonk or chimay. :)
I love Chimay as well, but it's a rare treat for me. It's on the expensive side.
I love craft beer. I try to go to a craft beer fest or two each year to be able to try a bunch of beers. I tend to favor IPAs, but still love stouts and porters too. I also homebrew beer when I can. A friend and I made a Baltic Porter that was really good.
If you get a chance, since you said you like stouts, you should try to get your hands on Surly Darkness. It's a Russian imperial stout. Very smooth with some dark fruit notes. It's a seasonal yearly limited release that's a little pricey but worth it.

IPAs are popular in San Diego, too. Ballast Point Sculpin is a favorite and Stone & Green Flash are two other good local breweries as well.
Grapefruit Sculpin FTW! Just visited Ballast point a few weeks ago on vacation in Little Italy and they had a cherry Berlinner on that was righteous. It is expensive, but so is life.
Sculpin is a great beer, but far too expensive. There are other beers in the same class that cost less than half as much.
Where do you live? You can find Sculpin for $4-5 dollars where I am from.

IPAs mostly. Racer 5 at the moment.
IPAs and Lagers aren't really my thing. I guess I am a malty beer over a hoppy beer person
Nice, been nerding on beer since I had an impulse buy of a Mr. Beer on Woot back in 05 or so. Hated it at first, but made myself like it since I was brewing it. Now 10 years later and still homebrewing on a pretty 'advance' level.
With that said, my favorite beers are American Pale Ales and big, hoppy Red Ales. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale will always be my first love and gold standard for APAs. Green Flash's Hop Head Red is the perfect beer.
Here lately been drinking as many Vienna Lagers as I can get my hands on, as well as India Pale Lagers when I see em.
You should try Wussie from Stone. It is a Pilsner, but Stone being Stone it's a much harsher finish than typical Pilsners. If you like Vienna Lagers, you should try Great Lakes Eliot Ness., it is bomb diggity. @biergeek
Sweet, both sound tasty. I'm in the Central Valley of California so should be able to find that Stone Pilsner, looks like they're brewing under their Arrogant Brewing label. Firestone-Walker Pivo Pils is probably my favorite, their brewery is within 100 miles so really benefit from the freshness of their beers. I really wish their were more Vienna's here in the states.
Personally, I always like trying the funky abnormal styles. Currently, I am on a sour kick. Not like lactic acid sour kick, but legit barrel aged sours. One of my current favorites is Cable Car from Lost Abbey. I also love their Duck Duck Gooze. Another style I love is imperial stouts especially those aged in whiskey barrels or some kind of spirit.
I'm a big fan of Brewdog beers, especially IPAs, their Hardcore IPA is.. well hardcore!
I also enjoy Belgian beers, Duvel is my go to beer of choice :)
