Sea Turtle Beetle #2

in #hive5 years ago (edited)
Hi everyone's... How are you to day !!!

After a month of searching for information about one of these insect species, it turns out that this animal has a name that we haven't heard for a long time, namely Turtle Beetle or local residents, saying Lakoe Oen.

The name that has been named about a few years ago refers to the shape of the beetle itself, this is equated with the body shape that resembles a turtle, then local people say as Lakoe Oen it turns out that this one animal is always on every leaf that grows minimally it is always there even though there is only one tail.

But according to the results that have been observed by some of these beetle farming students for a long time, were not seen about 10 years ago, after being examined by an agricultural student, he was not seen again in the past few years, and today this turtle beetle has returned in the human environment, especially in guava plants.

Its existence is also as planthopper

Its presence in each plant, especially in guava trees, is one that makes farmers confused because its presence always eats other insect species or they will always expel ladybugs, so that it becomes useful when in plants, but there are losses that have an impact on plant leaves due to their droppings or in the form of the liquid can rot leaves.

Liquid poop is very poisonous to leaves but not to humans, so they can make the leaves wilt, but the effect is that not all the leaves wither only a third of the leaves wither while the rest is still fresh and the leaves will continue to grow as usual and the fruit will also grow as usual.

Because of its relatively rare presence, farmers do not worry about its presence in the crops being managed, for reasons stated above. Sea Turtle Beetle or Lakoe Oen is one of the species grouped in the order of other leaf beetles, this is seen in terms of their shape and characteristics in their daily lives.

Its population

As has been explained in the first post that this beetle population is very small and very rarely encountered, if you look for it is very difficult to find its existence. Ten years ago, we saw this beetle again. Observations by the authors and other research colleagues are also making a study of it because it is considered to be an animal that is rarely seen or can be said to be a rare animal in the beetle habitat.

In addition to being very fond of being in a guava tree he also very often makes nests under piles of leaves that have fallen on the ground, this is done because to avoid the hot sun that shines on every plant during the day.

In the vision of the writer does not get a pair of beetles this means that the writer himself only found one type and has not found the actual population.

Its size

Concerning the size of your body you can measure it yourself if you see the size of a guava leaf with its body shape, but it can be simply measured that you can see the body size of this animal in the table below.

Generalsize
Long2.5 cm
Wide0.5 cm
General sizeThe size of a ping pong ball
Thickness0.03

His behavior

This Turtle Beetle is considered an insect that does not move much or is rarely active, it is able to remain silent for hours if it feels safe from any other predators. But if he sees a bird or a bat he will hide behind leaves or camouflage with leaves covering his body.

If someone approaches him then he will assume it is safe, this applies to the writer who is free to photograph him with a state of silence from his place but he will shift when he finds the light of a camera (bliz) that is shining on him.
