REPORT: Six-Time Super Bowl Champion Coach Bill Belichick Has Interviewed for UNC's Vacant Head Coach Position
According to several reports, former New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick has had "discussions" with the University of North Carolina about their currently vacant head coach position. The Tarheels fired 73-year-old Mack Brown, a College Football Hall of Famer, on November 26 after six lackluster seasons (44-33 record).
Belichick, 72, is out of football this season but has done some commentary work for the 'Inside the NFL TV show and ESPN shows 'ManningCast' and 'The Pat McAfee Show.'
While Belichick is the biggest name UNC has reportedly spoken with, he's certainly not the only person. The school has been connected to several coaches, including Tulane's Jon Sumrall, Iowa State's Matt Campbell, Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann, and former Panthers/Cardinals Coach Steve Wilks, who spent this season volunteering in Charlotte.
While Belichick hasn't publicly commented on any situation, it has been regularly thought that the future Hall of Fame would seek to return next season in some capacity.
