I know that I've been gone from writing about our Alvinegro Paulista, but unfortunately the Brazilian Football Confederation is completely unprepared and unprofessional a lot more frequent than you'd expect. The result? Four games in ten days, including a difference of 51 hours between the last two games.

MARATONA is is a term in Portuguese that literally translates to marathon, referring to the long-distance running race known for its 42.195-kilometer distance. In the soccer context however, it's used figuratively to describe a grueling sequence of games; an extended series of matches that test the endurance and perseverance of a team. Just as a running marathon challenges an athlete's stamina and determination over a long distance, a soccer Maratona represents a period of intense competition where teams must continually perform at their best, often with little rest in between games.
