AS BRABAS ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF BRASILEIRAO FOR THE SIXTH TIME // The World of Sports // LetsGoCoringation

Greetings, Coringation travelers!

Last Sunday, September the 22nd of 2024, for the sixth time and for THE FIFTH TIME IN A ROW, the Corinthians' Women's Football Team, As Brabas, were crowned the champions of Brasileirão!! I've already bragged about them in the previous' match post, but I don't mind restating:

As Brabas are litteraly incredible. They won every tournament they played in last year, and have been one of the strongest forces in Women's Football globally since the project really was taken seriously by the club and reactivated in 2016 with Audax, and later in 2018 by ourselves. Corinthians' since then has won the Copa Libertadores 4 times, the Brasileirão 5 times, the Copa do Brasil once, the Supercopa do Brasil thrice and the Campeonato Paulista 4 times. They also have achieved a world record in 2019, with 34 consecutive victories. Yes. Thirty-four. In a row. Yeah. Maybe I've bragged enough.

First off, the Fiel Torcida packed the Neo Química Arena with 44,529 people! That's a new record for women's club football in South America. The atmosphere? Electric doesn't even begin to cover it, it was Coringation.

The first half was tense, I'll give you that. São Paulo came out strong, marking tight and closing down spaces. Our Brabas only managed one dangerous shot from Yaya at the 23-minute mark. SPFC had their chances too, with Aline almost sneaking one in at the 42-minute mark. But the second half? Oh boy, the second half was where the magic happened.

At the 62-minute mark, Yasmim crossed from the left, Vic Albuquerque (yes, her again!) set it up beautifully, and Jaqueline Ribeiro headed it home! I screamed in excitment and even scared my beloved partner, who was watching the game alongside me. 1x0 (and 4x1 aggregate)

And at the 89-minute mark, Gabi Zanotti made a genious play and got the ball skillfully to Carol Nogueira, who ran half the field up to the goal, and sacramented our Championship Victory!! 2x0

Final Aggregate score: 5x1

As Brabas now prepare themselves for the continuation of Paulistão, where they will face off Marília tomorrow, the 25th, and still have the Libertadores to play, where they will face off Boca Juniors (ARG), on October the 3rd.

After the debut of Memphis Depay last game on the weekend, the Men's Football Team play today, Sepetember the 24th, against Fortaleza on the second leg of their quarter finals dispute in the Copa Sudamericana, after winning last week by 2x0 away from home.

VAI CORINTHIANS!!

or, as I jokingly sing in Portung'lish,

LET'S GO CORINGATIOOOOONN!!!
