This series will be a challenge for England : Gautam Gambhir
Before going to India, England whitewashed Sri Lanka on their own soil to play. Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad also shed light on spin assist wickets and condition. Jack Leach, Dom Besra showed a glimpse of great bowling ability to play. Gambhir is not thinking much about these two wicket hunters of that series for best.
The 39-year-old former batsman told a Star Sports event that he sees only a slight chance for England in the day-night Test is possible.
"I don't see the possibility of England winning a Test because of the spin attack they have. The series will be 3-0 or 3-1. I can only give the test of the pink ball (to England), but in terms of condition it will also be 50-50 for England. ”
English captain Root was also instrumental in winning the series in Sri Lanka ground. He made a double century in the first Test with a great batting support on the spin assist wicket and also condition. The possibility of a double century in the next Test of series.
Gambhir thinks the route, which was the best in the series against the Lankans situation, will struggle to handle the Indian bowlers and spinners. According to him, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jaspreet Bumrah will face different challenges for the route challenge also.
“The series is going to be a completely different challenge for Joe Root. Yes, he has done well in Sri Lanka. But when Jaspreet faces Bumrah or plays great in the Australia series against skyscraper Ashwin, I am sure it will be a different experience. ”
The first Test of the four-match series will start next Friday 05 February 2021. The third Test of the series will be the pink ball of cricket series.
