My friend and my car mechanic told me I should change the timing belt, it wasn't too exhausting. after I took it out, Andrian told me that most likely the belt was never changed, it was the original with the vw stamp and that after 220,000 km.
I have found the belt and the water pomp, it costed me 160€.
I came earlier than Adrian, and I started disassembling the parts that I knew could be disassembled, after that I waited for him and started the rest of the work after he came.
The exchange is not complicated, you need to know what screws to unscrew, there are some important parts that hold the engine and must be removed. To remove the pump that is on the left side of the engine at the bottom of it I removed a lot of parts. Before removing the strap, it is necessary to put together some signs that are on the serrated wheels.
It is not very visible in the picture, but the belt had cracks, a testament to the long exploitation. The belt was not too exhausted, I could go another 10-20 thousand km.
In addition to the timing belt, 4 wheels are also changed, which are mandatory to be changed with the belt, otherwise there is a risk of tilting after changing the belt.
After we changed it, we started to put the pieces point by point in their place. It didn't take long and everything was in place.
I also bought some coolant, because when the pump is replaced, when we take it out and put the pump in its place, the liquid leaks, it is possible that most of it will leak, somewhere I lost 1.5 liters and replaced them respectively.
After putting everything in its place, I found the key, and nothing. Surprisingly, the car did not start. I started taking out other songs, trying the starter, maybe that's the problem, but still nothing. Everything was in order. 😀😀😀 Finally, after 10-15 minutes of torment, Andrian remembered where the problem was… the cable I marked. I plugged it in and turned it on, and off I went.
